Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is an efficient solution to satisfy an increasing growth of travel demand in developing countries. Through collection and synthesis of outstanding experience, such as in Bogota (Colombia) and Guangzhou (China), the Bus Rapid Transit Standard (BRTS) was adopted to provide guidelines to the creation of BRT. This is a measurement to highlight the strengths and shortcomings of each case, contributing to propose approaches to handle disadvantages and enhance operation. Hanoi introduced the first BRT corridor at the beginning of 2017. In this paper, it is assessed by the BRTS. The findings show that its design gains the Bronze standard; yet, its actual operation achieves the Basic level. To improve this system, implementing technical packages to give prioritized signals at intersections and provide multimodal real-time information together with reducing interval at peak hours would be the most important and feasible approaches. Although being ineffective currently; BRT keeps playing a crucial role in the process of limiting the use of private vehicles. Keywords: BRT, Hanoi, standard, solution, Vietnam.
